Thistlebond TPC675 Polymer Lining for use in BUND areas (wall containment in case of spillage, leakage from pipes, valves, pumps, flanges or from the containment tank(s) themselves).

This was a recent application of Thistlebond TPC675 Ultimate Chemical Protection Polymer in Scandinavia (very close to the Russian Border).

The problem was the leakage of chemicals (mainly CAUSTIC) onto the concrete floor and subsequently damaging the concrete surface and finally eating through the surface to gain access into the ground underneath.

The company was a major multi national chemical manufacture and a decision was made to look for various options to not only repair the damaged concrete are but also to provide a lining material that would prevent any further leakage into the ground in the event of another leakage occurring.

The local Thistlebond distributor was called in and offered Thistlebond TPC675 as the prime coating material for protection and also Thistlebond TPC610, the patch repair to make good all the damaged areas.

The project started with cleaning and surface preparation. This was done using hydroblasting equipment.

Then the area where the damage has been caused by previous leaking of the CAUSTIC was repaired using Thistlebond TPC610.

Special attention had to be made to the Metal Support Legs for some of the tanks as the corrosion was quite excessive.

After all surface preparation had been carried out the Thistlebond Polymer was applied onto all the surface area (including side walls) using standard rolling  equipment. 

This enabled the coating to be applied in one application at an average thickness of 500 microns.

The customer was so impressed with the Thistlebond product they are now looking at further applications for next summer and are looking at the Thistlebond Engineering Range to use in manufacturing facility!

The distributor applicators even had time to enjoy the sunshine!
