All our polymer products are COLD CURE, that is to say they do not need OUTSIDE heat source to cure - heat is produced when base and activator are added together. (EXOTHERMIC HEAT)

PUMPS - FLUID FLOW EQUIPMENT
Pumps are a vital and necessary part of most manufacturing and service industries and their reliability and life performance are essential if profitability is to be maximised by any organisation.

If, by using the UPS range of Maintenance Polymers a pump can either be kept in service longer (thereby saving on the HIGH COST of outage and possible loss of production) or made to run more efficiently (thereby reducing the amount of power required to drive the pump unit) MAJOR savings can be made in the life cycle cost of the pump.

Of course in most instances the initial cost of the pump is small in comparison to the cost of operating over a period of years. Which depending upon the type of pump and application can be a matter of months to a matter of many years.

To evaluate further we will start by looking at the 5 major reasons why pumps fail or need to be removed for maintenance. Adhesive Wear - Causes

  • Direct contact between rotating and stationary components.
  • Adhesive wear is also know as "scuffing" or "galling"
  • Wear ring materials selected to minimise the effect.

Abrasive Wear - Causes

  • Hard surface rubbing against soft surface causing "scoring"
  • 2 or 3 body wear depending on the presence of hard particulate debris
  • Any close tolerance components with the potential to trap debris (i.e. underneath packing and bearings)

Erosive Wear - Causes

  • Combination of solid within the fluid and high flow velocity caused by the impingement of hard particles on the component surface
  • Polished and smooth areas of damage found in location of high velocity.

Corrosive Attack

  • Corrosive attack can take many forms. General corrosion of the impeller surface - formation of Corrosion nodules - increase in the surface roughness.
  • ALL equals a reduction in the fluid flow equipment performance.

Cavitation

  • Damage on impeller blade caused by the formation and implosion of millions of vapour bubbles.
  • Cavitation is a systems design problem. However, materials offer different degrees of resistance to damage.

  • Repair Damage with 230 (Flexible Ceramic Paste to repair damaged areas)
  • Coat to prevent further damage 235 (Flexible Ceramic Fluid to coat repaired areas)

Enhance Pump Efficiency
  • Quite simply - efficiency can be stated as the ratio of the amount of input energy to the amount of output energy (in pump applications).
  • The reason for LOSS of efficiency (or loss of output energy) is HEAT. When individual parts of a rotating unit such as a pump come into contact each other - heat is generated and efficiency drops.
  • The same can be said for the effects of a fluid passing over the wet end parts of the pump and causing surface friction.
  • The passing of fluid creates HEAT (due to friction) and this again will reduce the pump efficiency - as if looked at under a microscope the metal surface of the pump is very rough.
  • To combat this effect UPS has developed a low surface tension ceramic 210. The wetted end of a pump coated with this product will reduce friction and thereby reduce heat and make the pump more efficient as the CERAMIC COATED surface is VERY SMOOTH.
The end result is less power consumption by the pump motor to produce the same pump fluid flow.

RESULT: LESS MONEY SPENT ON ELECTRICITY; and the ADDED VALUE - continuing to supply products that help keep our environment safe.

Top Corrosion must be considered for any heat exchanger application, although corrosion may not be a concern for some applications.

By utilising the engineering polymers as supplied by UPS - a complete refurbishment and repair of heat exchanger can be undertaken.

Using the 200 Ceramic Engineering Past to effect complete repairs of the damaged are caused by erosion and corrosion - the material parts can be renovated to nearly new condition.

Using the 205 Ceramic Fluid Engineering - a much better surface can be in place that will deter the future corrosion and erosion of the heat exchanger parts.

Shafts - Threads - Sleeves

Unique Polymer Maintence Polymers can make effective repairs to many many pieces of equipment as shown BUT NOT LIMITED to the below applications.

     
sleeves etc The UPS Metal Repair Range can be used to ATTACH sleeves to shafts as well as to attach many other broken parts. The Metal Repair products - 105 - 19065 are capable of being used as a FIXING type material when Joining two metal parts together. A METAL ADHESION system.
The UPS Metal Repair Range can be used to REPAIR worn metal shafts. This means that in many many cases it is NOT REQUIRED to replace the shaft with expensive oem equipment. Used for these repairs UPS 105 - 19065 . All metals are fully machineable and will maintain there outside diameter size for critical applications sleeves etc
sleeves etc The UPS Metal Repair Range can be used to repair worn or broken threaded joints. By also utilising the UPS Release agent - repairs can be limited to the EXACT area required.

This means that in many cases it is not required to REPLACE the equipment. Used to repair this equipment UPS 105 - 19060
